The Anatomical Record-Special Issue
An Official Publication of the American Association of Anatomists

Virtual Issue: Highlights in Neuroscience

The Anatomical Record Part A: Discoveries in Molecular, Cellular, and Evolutionary Biology invites original manuscripts on the anatomy and physiology of the nervous system that facilitate the transfer of basic information to clinical applications, and promote an understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of neural growth, communication, and pathology. The journal remains committed to publishing new discoveries relating to the morphology and ultrastructure of living systems. A new focus, however, is to provide a platform for a comparative approach-one which will enable circuit architecture and responsiveness to be considered in the context of behavior and neuronal dysfunction.

Targeted areas of interest include:

  • Comparative and evolutionary neuroanatomy
  • Human neurological diseases and aging
  • Spinal cord injury and regeneration
  • Functional MRI and brain imaging
  • Mental disorders and microarrays
  • Transgenic models of disease
  • Cellular/Molecular basis of plasticity
  • Stem cell biology and transplants
  • Axonal guidance and development
  • Trauma, inflammation, and neurodegeneration

The articles here highlight areas of the field recently published in Parts A and B (The New Anatomist) of The Anatomical Record.

These articles are provided free online by Wiley-Liss, Inc., the publishers of The Anatomical Record, as a service to the anthropology community.
