The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at The University of Western Ontario, is inviting applications for the position of Chair in the Department of Anatomy & Cell Biology. Anatomy & Cell Biology is a strong vibrant department with three main areas of strength: Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Clinical Anatomy. Research in Cell Biology focuses on Cancer, Vascular Biology and Stroke, Cell Communication and Cell Signaling. Research in Neurobiology includes Addiction and Reward, Schizophrenia, Spinal Cord Injury and Learning, Memory and Cognition. Clinical Anatomy research is centered on the development and testing of novel tools for the teaching of anatomy, as well as the application of anatomy in clinical settings such as surgery and radiology. The Department has approximately16 000 sq. ft of renovated laboratory space and access to many core facilities located at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, and at the Robarts Research Institute. Facilities within the department include confocal microscopy, cell micromanipulation, live cell imaging, whole animal imaging, and animal behavioral equipment. The Department has a strong graduate program consisting of both Research and Clinical Anatomy Streams and an innovative undergraduate Honours program in Medical Cell Biology. In addition, the Department provides teaching to medical, dental, science and health science students through undergraduate programs in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and the Faculties of Science and Health Sciences. The successful candidate should have a reputation for effective interpersonal, administrative and leadership skills and have a well-funded, successful research program. The new Chair will be expected to support the research, educational and interdisciplinary initiatives of the Department, to help maintain the positive forward momentum of the Department and to develop new initiatives in research/scholarship. The successful candidate must have a PhD or equivalent, and would receive a tenured academic appointment at the level of associate or full professor, as appropriate to their record of accomplishment in teaching and research. Candidates with a background in the anatomical sciences and a research program complementing existing research strengths are particularly encouraged to apply. Clinical Anatomist - University of Western Ontario Posted Tuesday, July 20, 2010
 

The Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at The University of Western Ontario invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured mid-career faculty position at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the area of Clinical Anatomy. The Division of Clinical Anatomy, within the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, consists of a highly motivated group of educators, responsible for teaching the sub-disciplines of anatomy to students in medicine, dentistry and other health science professions. Members of the Division are also actively involved in educational scholarship and research, including the design, production and testing of innovative teaching materials. Four years ago the Division launched a successful Master of Clinical Anatomy program, the first of its kind in Canada, designed to train students to become educator-scholars in the field of Clinical Anatomy and the aim is now to introduce a PhD program.

Applications will be considered from candidates with a PhD, MD or DDS (or equivalent) degree, with a strong background and demonstrated excellence in the teaching of gross anatomy, embryology and histology. In addition, candidates must show clear evidence of outstanding scholarship in education, or in a field related to clinical anatomy. The successful candidate will be expected to take an active part in the teaching, student mentorship, and administration within the Division and to play a key role in the development of the Clinical Anatomy PhD program. The successful applicant will also be expected to maintain active scholarship in education or research related to clinical anatomy.

    The University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) (www.kumc.edu), located in metropolitan Kansas City, invites applications for two faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. One of these posts can be filled immediately, the second will commence July 1, 2011. Applicants must have postdoctoral research experience, and be working in the area of vertebrate developmental biology, broadly defined.     The University of Colorado Denver Physical Therapy Program invites applications for a full-time eligible tenure track position at the level of Assistant / Associate Professor in Anatomy. This position will join the team of anatomists who teach courses for students in physical therapy, physician assistant, and medical programs. The successful applicant will hold a primary appointment in the Physical Therapy Program and a secondary appointment in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology.

     

    The primary responsibility for this position is teaching anatomy. Student advising, service, scholarship and research are also expected. Teaching in other areas of interest may also be available. Candidates must have earned a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DPT) and have previous academic experience. Physical therapy licensure is preferred. Experience teaching in a DPT graduate program is preferred.

     

    The University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program is an entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, which is located in a new state-of-the-art Health Sciences building on the Anschutz Medical Campus.
