Job Title: Anatomy Laboratory Demonstrator – Dominica
Ross University School of Medicine, located on the beautiful Caribbean island of Dominica in the West Indies, invites applications for Anatomy Laboratory Demonstrators. We currently have two positions available at the rank of Instructor. Our mission is to prepare highly dedicated students to become effective, successful physicians in the United States. Basic science coursework is taught in Dominica and students then complete their clinical studies in the United States. Education is the primary focus of the faculty. The academic year is divided into three semesters with a new class of students admitted each semester. Lectures and other educational responsibilities continue throughout the year. Effective teachers are sought, particularly individuals who are interested in improving medical education and who work well on a team. Research opportunities exist, primarily in the area of medical education.

As a full-time Anatomy Laboratory Demonstrator you will be responsible for instruction in the Gross Anatomy Laboratory to 1st semester medical students – approximately 15-20 hours per week. Responsibilities may also include prosection and dissection of specimens for student use and instruction. You will also be required to be involved in the preparation and delivery of anatomy practical examinations. In addition, you would be called upon to perform other duties, which may be of benefit to the students of RUSM including proctoring and tutoring as requested by the Anatomy Department Chair, Anatomy Department Vice Chair or Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
• Extensive knowledge of medical human gross anatomy.
• Must have experience prosecting human specimens and extensive dissection experience.
• Prior experience with cadaveric anatomy laboratory instruction at the graduate level.
• Ability to relate anatomical concepts to clinical scenarios
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• Strong teaching skills and experience or evidence of potential.
• Desire for self improvement
• Flexibility and ability to work well on a team.
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
• Masters in Anatomy or equivalent or discretion of chair
Currently, we hire two different types of Instructors:
1-Full-time regular employees: Must sign a contact for at least one (1) calendar year. If you choose this option you will get all the benefits that Ross University has to offer including health coverage for employee, 57 days of leave (includes days for vacation, holidays, professional development and sick/personal days). success sharing, a deferred compensation plan, stock purchase option, the geographical living allowance, the annual travel benefit and professional development. You will receive one (1) round-trip coach airfare ticket, US $1000 for relocation and the annual salary is US $45,000.
2-Full-time temporary employee: These employees sign an offer for one semester (15 weeks). They may renew semester by semester. This option is for individuals who plan to go to medical school, graduate school or may have other opportunities and are not sure about time commitment. These demonstrators receive US $3750.00/month, but no benefits.
