Governance

The American Association of Anatomists is governed by an elected Board of Directors that includes the President, the President-Elect, the President-Emeritus, the Secretary-Treasurer, two Program Chairs, and eight directors. In 2000, AAA made the pioneering move of not just allowing, but actually mandating, student involvement at the Board level - two of the eight directors must be student or postdoctoral fellow members.

AAA conducts its operations based on a Constitution and Bylaws and is a nonprofit scientific organization with tax-exempt status. The association is a member of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB), a coalition of independent member societies in the biomedical and life sciences.
