The Department of Medical Education of the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine at El Paso, Texas, is seeking a full time medical science educator with expertise in teaching human gross anatomy.
The Foster School of Medicine admitted its inaugural class in 2009. The school employs an innovative and highly integrated clinical presentation-based curriculum. Additional information about the school is available through our institutional website: http://www.ttuhsc.edu/fostersom.
Minimum Qualifications:
*Ph.D., M.D./D.O., or equivalent terminal degree in the biomedical sciences (Ph.D. must be in anatomy or in a biomedical science discipline with evidence of substantial formal training/development in human anatomy; M.D. candidates without a Ph.D. must have additional credentials related to advanced scientific training and scholarship in a biomedical science discipline and evidence of substantial formal training/development in human anatomy)
*Expertise in and experience teaching human gross anatomy (especially as clinically-integrated anatomy for medical students)
*A relevant and substantial record of scholarship (including abstracts, publications and presentations)

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with the following additional attributes (in order of priority):
*Applicants who are licensed, actively practicing and Board Certified (ABMS recognized) physicians with a Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree in a biomedical science and with evidence of substantial formal training/development in human anatomy
*Formal training or experience in educational theory and/or evaluation and assessment
*Experience in the planning and implementation of a course in biomedical science
Physician candidates applying for the Clinician Medical Educator option must be Board Certified (ABMS recognized), must qualify for an unrestricted Texas Medical License, and must agree to obtain an unrestricted Texas Medical License within 2 years of employment. All other candidates will be considered under the Basic Science Medical Educator option.
This medical educator position is salaried and fully funded. Salary, academic rank and tenure option are commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package is included.
