Must be an AAA member with dues paid or renewed for 2013 by the EB 2013 abstract submission deadline: November 13, 2012.

First author and presenter at EB 2013, giving either a poster or a platform presentation.

Must list AAA as their sponsoring society when submitting abstract.

If you are presenting a poster, posters need to be up by 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on scheduled day. Authors must be at their posters from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Poster presentation is limited to 5 minutes. Judging times for those presenting in non-AAA poster sessions will be arranged individually.

Awards are presented at the AAA Annual Banquet on Tuesday, April 23; each Travel Awardee is entitled to one free AAA Annual Banquet ticket; additional tickets may be purchased online prior to the meeting. Only competitive award finalists are required to attend the AAA Annual Banquet. All award checks are distributed at the Annual Banquet. Travel Awardees who do not attend the banquet will receive their travel award by mail after the meeting.

Banquet tickets must be picked up by Monday, April 22, at the AAA Office (Room 103) in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center during EB 2013.

Applicants are encouraged to compete for a platform or poster award within their academic level, in addition to receiving a Travel Award.

Only applications with confirmed abstracts will be considered. No substitution of first author/presenter allowed.

Recipients and finalists are notified about 6 weeks after the abstract deadline.

Additional criteria for individual awards are listed below. Judges may withhold specific awards at their discretion.

Past Winners
AAA Young Faculty Travel Award
(deadlines and general requirements for all awards)

Up to five prizes of $500 awarded on a competitive basis, plus a complimentary AAA Annual Banquet ticket.

Must have been an AAA member for at least one full year prior to abstract/application deadline and be renewed for 2013 by the abstract submission deadline.

Must be a junior faculty member who is first author and presenter of a poster or a platform presentation at EB 2013.
AAA Student/Postdoctoral Travel Award
(deadlines and general requirements for all awards)

A travel grant, the option to attend the AAA Annual Banquet; no competition required.

$250 travel grant to new AAA Student/Postdoctoral Members who have joined prior to the abstract/application deadline; $350 travel grant to renewing AAA Student/Postdoctoral Members who have renewed prior to the abstract/application deadline.
AAA Platform Presentation Awards
(deadlines and general requirements for all awards)

First prize: certificate and $500; runners-up: certificate and $150.

Submitted abstracts are pre-judged to determine up to 6 finalists for each academic level (Postdoc, Graduate, or Undergraduate)

The finalists are judged on Saturday, April 20th at the Platform Award Session. Platform finalists will also need to present again in their regular EB programmed session.

AAA Postdoctoral Platform Presentation Award - Must be a postdoctoral fellow or medical resident/intern (within 5 years of Ph.D. or M.D.) giving an oral presentation.

AAA Langman Graduate Student Platform Presentation Award - Must be a graduate student or medical/dental/vet student giving an oral presentation.

Educational Research Platform Presentation Award - Open to undergraduates, graduate students, medical/dental/vet students, and postdocs giving an oral presentation related to education or teaching.

Submitted abstracts are pre-judged to determine up to 12 finalists for each academic level (Postdoc, Graduate, or Undergraduate)

AAA Postdoctoral Poster Presentation Award - Must be a postdoctoral fellow or medical resident/intern (within 5 years of Ph.D. or M.D.) giving a poster presentation.

AAA Graduate Student Poster Presentation Award - Must be a graduate student or medical/dental/vet student giving a poster presentation.

AAA/ASE Student/Postdoctoral Education Research Poster Award - Must be a graduate student, medical/dental/vet student, postdoctoral fellow or medical resident/intern (within 5 years of Ph.D. or M.D.) giving a poster presentation related to education or teaching.

AAA Undergraduate Student Poster Presentation Award - Must be an undergraduate student giving a poster presentation in an AAA session.
