Curricular change at any educational level is a challenging process. For this activity to be successful,
many factors must be considered, including recent data on the current educational approaches and activities
being used in various institutions. The American Association of Anatomists (AAA), in cooperation with the
American Association of Clinical Anatomists (AACA), has developed a brief online course survey to compile this data.
The goal of this short survey is to provide an accessible, updatable, and accurate database regarding how courses
in Gross Anatomy, Microscopic Anatomy, Neuroscience, and Embryology are being taught. This important information will
assist anatomical science educators as they design programs for the future.
This survey is meant to be completed by the Course Directors for Gross Anatomy, Microscopic Anatomy, Neuroscience,
and Embryology. Since a variety of approaches are being used to present the anatomical sciences, (e.g., individual
courses, integrated curricula, or a combination of both), please attempt to determine the number of hours devoted to a
specific discipline, even if it is not a separate course. This will help us obtain the most complete and useful data
related to how information in the anatomical sciences is being presented.
