Summer Gross Anatomy Course at the University of
Louisville
A summer remediation course for medical gross anatomy at the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center. The six-week course will run between June 2nd until July 11th.
Course Description: This six-week course is divided into three two-week
blocks. Each block will end with written and practical exams.
Block I: Back, Thorax, Upper Limb: June 2-June 13
Block II: Abdomen, Pelvis, Perineum, Lower Limb: June 16-June 27
Block III: Head and Neck Anatomy: June 30-July 11
This course is intended for medical students who are required to correct deficiencies in human gross anatomy. In this lecture and laboratory course, we review the entire anatomy of the human body and emphasize the clinical relevance of the subject matter. A complete dissection of the human body is required to complete this course successfully. Faculty will be present during the dissections for personal interaction, to answer questions, and to facilitate proper dissection.
Concerning enrollment, your students have to prove they are a medical student (letter from one of your school's officials) and pay the appropriate enrollment fee ($1500 for the entire six-week course or $1000 for a two-week block). Upon completion of the course, I will forward the students' grades and a letter to the appropriate dean.
At the University of Louisville, we try to have fun in these six weeks while improving the student's anatomical knowledge base. The low student to faculty ratio greatly assists in this process. Our course boasts experienced (or seasoned) faculty and prides itself on addressing the needs of each individual student. In the past, our participants
have been able to enter our fresh tissue facilities and even participate in an abdomen dissection led by Dr. Bob Acland.
Advantages of taking the course at the University of Louisville School of Medicine include:
Low cost of living in an exciting, vibrant, centrally-located city
A low student to faculty ratio which guarantees individual attention
Excellent anatomical facilities, including a state-of-the-art fresh tissue lab
The quality of the faculty who are dedicated to your success. We care!!!
We work hard yet still attend fun events, which keeps a balance in your life
All the amenities of a big city with smaller city atmosphere
Course Director is an Academic Advisory Dean in the School of Medicine
We treat the individual needs of each student to ensure success
Participation is restricted to medical students.
A three-week embryology course will follow the gross anatomy course
(July 14 - August 1).
