Job Post Guidelines
These guidelines are designed for use in composing and responding to job posts on the Anatomy Career Center.
Communication Policy
Communications sent through the Career Center should generally follow the same rules as job postings in that you should not use these communications to circumvent job-posting guidelines.
Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)
AAA endorses equal employment opportunity practices and does not accept posts that are discriminatory on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, age, national origin, veteran status, or physical disability. In addition, AAA encourages employers to not discriminate on the basis of marital status, the numbers and ages of dependent children, mental disability, or sexual orientation. In keeping with this policy, the use of the terms “recent Ph.D.” or “recent graduate” in Anatomy Career Center job posts is not permitted on the basis that those terms show a preference for age and are therefore discriminatory in nature, per section 1625.4 of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967. The term “beginning-level salary” may be used. Positions may also be defined in terms of teaching load, specified number of years away from a tenure decision, or requirements of certain skills.
Both the Equal Employment Opportunity Act and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 provide exceptions from discrimination in hiring for religious institutions, Native American Tribes, and federal correctional facilities. For this reason, certain job posts may include job opening restrictions on the basis of religious, racial, and age factors.
AAA reserves the right to edit, copy, and refuse any and all posts that are not in compliance with the principles of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, the Veterans’ Reemployment Rights Act Handicap Bias, the Vietnam-Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, and the Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990.
Without limiting AAA’s terms, conditions, and policies, AAA, in accordance with Department of Justice guidelines: (1) prohibits any job posting that requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence in the United States as a condition of employment, unless otherwise required in order to comply with law, regulation, executive order, or government contract, and (2) prohibits any job requirement or criterion in connection with a job posting that discriminates on the basis of citizenship status or national origin.
