Meet the Candidates for Board of Directors

Term: 2023-2026  |  Open Positions: 4  |  Candidates: 8

Douglas Gould

Candidate Statement: As a longtime member of the AAA and servant to our profession, I’d like to see the AAA as a thought leader in all things medical education. Our discipline is the foundation of the healthcare field, the most impactful educational experience students will have, and will remain at the center of any career in medicine. Anatomists are among the hardest-worked and most committed scholars and educators at our institutions – as such, I'd like to see the AAA take more of a lead with our related/sister organizations, in advocacy, training, and opinion. Anatomists are the faculty members most often at the forefront of pedagogical innovation and dedicated time spent in the educational realm; we are the individuals that typically take lead roles in curricular revision, integration, and innovations in assessment. I'm proud of what our organization has done and I think we have much to boast about, individually and collectively, we are well-positioned to be more visible and relevant in the medical education community as a whole. I would envision multiple opportunities for our members, e.g., white papers on a variety of topics related to medical education and advocacy programs for the organization and for our members to take back to their institutions. Thank you for your consideration.
