Rising Star Award

Recognizes early-career members who demonstrate excellence in their engagement with the AAA and exhibit the potential to serve in leadership roles in the AAA and at their home institution. This award is intended to foster the development of leadership skills in members with interest in pursuing future leadership roles within the organization and at their home institution. Funding is to be used specifically for professional development or leadership training.

Criteria and Eligibility

• Must be a member for 3 years prior to applying for award 
• Application materials include:
  • CV ( NIH four-page biosketch format preferred)
  • The professional development course description
  • One-page summary of intended destination, research goals that the course will help achieve
  • Budget outline indicating the source of additional funds, if necessary
• Preference will be given to applicants who are able to clearly articulate professional or leadership development achievements and goals for contributions to the AAA and their home institution. 
• Reviewed by the Professional Development Committee
