Opportunities for Public Comment from NSF and NIH
- Request for Public Comment: NSF Reporting Requirements Regarding Sexual Harassment, Other Forms of Harassment, or Sexual Assault – On March 5, NSF released a request for public comment regarding the agency’s proposed implementation of the new reporting requirements specified in NSF Important Notice No. 144. FASEB plans to respond to this request. Comments are due by May 4, 2018. This timing will allow FASEB to follow its traditional review and approval process (SPC followed by Board approval).
- Request for Information: Soliciting Input for the NIH Strategic Plan for Data Science – Also on March 5, NIH issued an RFI requesting comments and suggestions on the first NIH Strategic Plan for Data Science. Comments are due by April 2, 2018 using this electronic form. FASEB is seeking an extension to at least April 6 to allow for the full review and approval process. Since we were generally aware of NIH’s intent to issue the draft strategic plan this month, Bethany had already reached out to the Data Science and Informatics subcommittee to schedule a call; however, the short timeline of this RFI requires that we convene the subcommittee a bit earlier, and Bethany is in the process of identifying a date for the week of March 12. We will keep you posted regarding the status of our extension and plans for developing FASEB’s response.
