Presidents Issue Statement on Racism

March 19, 2021

ROCKVILLE, MD—The recent tragic events in Atlanta and many other acts of violence against Asian Americans are terrible reminders of the divisiveness in modern society. As a scientific organization, the American Association for Anatomy stands against all forms of discrimination. We would like to take this opportunity to remind our members of our association’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. In particular, we stand by our Asian American colleagues, but let us not forget other groups that we embrace that have faced similar acts of horror recently or in the past. This is a particularly important time to let all of our colleagues who personally face hate that we aspire to make our association a safe place for all.

AAA remains committed to its core values, community, respect, inclusion, integrity, and discovery, which serve as the foundation for our welcoming community.
