The Award for Inclusive Excellence

The Award for Inclusive Excellence is presented to a member who has a demonstrated record of leadership in establishing or promoting cultures of inclusiveness and participation by all, where all feel welcome and valued. Nominations for this award will document initiatives undertaken that cultivate, promote, and foster a more inclusive educational and learning environment and will demonstrate the impacts of outcomes from initiatives for the benefit of all participants/students. 

Criteria and Eligibility

• Must be a current member with at least one (1) year of membership
• Materials submitted by Nominator: 
  • Nomination letter: should describe the nominee’s record of leadership in establishing or promoting cultures of inclusiveness and participation by all, as well as the impact of the nominee's efforts. 
• Materials submitted by Nominee:
• Nominee’s CV or NIH-style biosketch (not to exceed 10 pages)
• Three (3) letters of support (not to exceed 500 words each), one of whom must be a AAA member
• Reviewed by the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee

Timeline

• Nomination Deadline: Friday, February 27 (By 11:59 PM EST)
• Additional Materials Deadline: Friday, March 13
• Application Review Deadline: Friday, March 27
• Notifications: Wednesday, April 1

Funding

$1,000 honorarium, complimentary meeting registration, and up to $1,000 in travel reimbursement to attend the Annual Meeting to receive the award
