Join us in Birmingham, Alabama as we address the questions of medical education within a changing political climate. Attendees at all levels (faculty, educators, and students) are welcome to grow, learn, and network together as we explore shifts in medical education.

Attendees will enjoy a variety of invited speakers from across the Southeastern US, with research and education presentations covering such topics as accessibility, public health, and outreach.

Abstracts 

Attendees are encouraged to submit abstracts for our poster sessions. A small number of abstracts will be selected for oral presentations in addition to their poster presentation. 

Abstract Topics

  • Anatomical Science - Innovations in anatomy, morphology, histology, and neuroanatomy. Research on human and non-human morphology and development, anthropology, and paleontology are included in this category. 
  • Education - Innovations in teaching across all medical sciences. Curriculum, classroom instruction, and case reports are included in this category. 
  • Ethics - All of the philosophical questions of anatomy, education, and the interactions of society with patient care are included here. 
  • Technology - Innovations in the use of technology for the study and practice of anatomy, OR their use in the classroom are included here. 

Poster Awards

Posters will also be eligible for competitive travel awards, with judging in categories based on career level (undergraduate, graduate, and postdoc/early career). Awards will be given at the closing ceremony.

Hands-on Workshops 

Additionally, attendees will have the choice to participate in a selection of hands-on workshops provided by subject-matter experts. Workshops will include a discussion panel on the political impacts to medical education, training in ultrasound, team-based learning, and more.
