About SCGDB

The Society of Craniofacial Genetics and Developmental Biology (SCGDB) was founded in 1975 to promote education, research, and communication concerning the normal and abnormal development of the head, face, and neck. Since the Society’s inception, our members have shared their clinical and scientific knowledge and have made numerous advances in understanding the genetic and developmental mechanisms underlying normal and abnormal development of the craniofacial complex. The Society for Craniofacial Genetics and Developmental Biology became an affiliate of the American Association for Anatomy (AAA) establishing a mutually beneficial partnership to advance craniofacial and anatomical science and education.
The general membership of the SCGDB consists of individuals engaged in research, teaching or patient care involving genetics, anatomy, cell biology, developmental biology, and/or other biological sciences relevant to the craniofacial complex, including the dentition. Our membership typically consists of a mix of senior and junior scientists, physicians, and dentists, with a rich contribution from graduate students, clinical trainees and postdoctoral researchers. All members of AAA are invited to join.
